DHRC-Nepal held an Inclusive Employment Award Ceremony on 29 February 2024, in coordination with DDPUK, to recognize and celebrate exemplary private sector employers for their contributions to the promotion and development of disability-inclusive employment in Nepal.
The ceremony was attended by the Honorable Mr Surendra Raj Acharya, Minister for Women, Children and Senior Citizens as Guest of Honor.
The organizations Merojob Limited, Prabhu Management Pvt., Hotel Hardik, CloudFactory Nepal, Subisu Cablenet Ltd and T-21 Café, BIA Institute, Kathmandu Model Hospital and Cocina Mitho Chha School of Hospitality were presented with awards to acknowledge the employment opportunities they offer to people with disabilities. These organizations are partnering with us to promote inclusive employment in Nepal.
Addressing the Award Ceremony, the Minister for Women, Children and Senior Citizens thanked DHRC-Nepal for organizing the event and committed the Ministry to the promotion of inclusive employment.
The other distinguished guests at the award ceremony included the Honorable Mr Prakash Pantha, National Assembly member and Chair of the Committee on Sustainable Development and Good Governance; the Honorable Mr Kaluram Rai (KR Khambu), member of the House of Representatives; the Honorable Ms Laxmi Ghimire, Bagmati Province Assembly member; Mr Ramakrishna Lamichhane, Joint Secretary of the Ministry for Women, Children and Senior Citizens; Ms Jamuna Mishra, Deputy Secretary and Branch Head of the Disability Rights Promotion Department; and Mr Devidatta Acharya, President of National Disabled Federation Nepal.
The event welcomed the participation of more than 60 representatives of organizations who are working for the rights of persons with disability in Nepal. We would like to thank everyone for attending the Ceremony and contributing to its success.
We believes this initiative will encourage other private companies to develop their own inclusive employment practices in the future, and make the government more aware, responsible and accountable regarding these issues.
