Ambika

DHRC, January 12, 2024

Ambika was born and raised in Makawanpur District and now lives in Kathmandu. She has an MA in Education and a Technical Education and Vocational Training qualification in Plant Science and Agriculture.

She is also a woman with curvature of the spine who has been working as a disability rights activist for the past 6 years. It was her wish to work for an organization supporting other people with disabilities that Ambika joined the Federation of Women with Disability, Nepal in November 2022, a turning point in her professional life.

She has gained a lot of experience and felt personal and professional growth since joining FWDN. She feels more confident and competent in official situations, able to work professionally with – and lead – groups. FWDN supports Ambika to learn more about the issues and types of disability, community mobilization and coordination with other DPOs and government agencies. She is able to advocate and explain effectively about the need for engagement, participation, representation and of people with disabilities at the local level.
